Book Cover Homework Assignment

The Rose Garden by Susanna Kearsley I chose because I liked the use of real photographs and how they are merged together. I also like the vintage treatment made to the photographs that make it look old and nostalgic. The relationship of the imagery and the text is interesting because instead of using a script typeface the typeface is a serif that compliments the imagery without overwhelming it.
Nightwoods by Charles Frazier intrigued me because the use of the forest silhouette. It is also simple in its typography as well as the cover itself and there is something interesting and appealing in the simplicity of it. The ratio of the imagery and the type is about even though there is slightly less typography than the image of the forest.
The Art of Fielding by Chad Harback is another cover that I liked that was type dominant. I liked the use of the typeface and how it takes up the whole cover and becomes an image itself. The script typeface is really eye-catching and helps reference the title.

Worm by Mark Bowden attracted me because like part of our project it is a type dominant cover. I really like the background text and the way the word Worm fades at the bottom which is reminiscent of pixels on a computer screen.
